EPS 46: Coaching Carousal

Shottenheimer was hired to execute Pete Carroll’s philosophy and vision and sublimate his own interests, and continue to develop an offense around the dynamic Russell Wilson at quarterback. If what you were after was a young, unproven but up and coming innovative force as offensive coordinator, then you will be disappointed. Pete is going back to his tried and true philosophy of a rock-solid run game, and he trusts that Wilson is far enough along in his development to ensure that we will still have a dynamic passing attack.

EPS 45: Year In Review Plus Player Awards

Welcome to another addition of the Hawks Playbook Podcast. Join your hosts Bill Alvstad and Keith Myers as we dive into the 2017 Seattle Seahawks regular season from free agency and the 2017 NFL Draft, the first regular season game vs. The Packers all the way to the last Blair Walsh missed field goal and the 26-24 loss at home to the Arizona Cardinals. Sure, the season started with great hope that this could be another special team, and make a deep run into the playoffs, but it fizzled out in the end. Why did we have so much hope at the beginning and how did we get to such an ugly finish? Bill and Keith will spend a lot of time talking individual players and evaluating performances, and with that, we have our first annual Hawks Playbook Awards. We will hand these out in several categories, like Player of the year for each position group, including coaches, and a few other categories just for fun.

A Fitting End to A Less Than Ideal Season

EPS 44: A Fitting End to A Less Than Ideal Season

It was a fitting and darkly poetic finish to the season, as the game encapsulated all that was wrong with the under performing season. Slow starting offense with 24 first half yards, a great comeback effort by Russell Wilson and crew, only to be thwarted by unfortunate and ill-timed penalties that allowed the Cardinals to score on their last drive, and force a last second field goal attempt by Walsh who missed. The 2017 season in a nutshell.

EPS 43: Seahawks Defense Delivers Win vs Dallas

Hello and welcome to the Hawks Playbook Podcast. Join Hosts Bill Alvstad and Keith Myers as we delve into the dominant defensive performance on the road against the Cowboys, and how the 3 turnovers paved the way for the offense to eek out a must win performance. The playoffs unofficially started in earnest last Sunday in a do or die game where the winner lived to see their season hopes for playoffs continue, while the loser would be eliminated from playoff contention. Justin Coleman had a 30 yard pick 6, and Byron Maxwell and KJ Wright had key defensive turnovers that led directly to offensive touchdowns, and that were the difference in this game.

EPS 42: Seahawks lay an egg on Bill’s vacation

Hello Seahawks fans! Bill is out of town this week on vacation leaving me (Keith) to cover this disaster of a game all by myself. Honestly, he picked a good week to get away, and the complete dismantling of our Seattle Seahawks was extremely difficult to watch. It was even harder to re-watch on the coaches tape to prep for this week’s show.

Seattle Seahawks Let One Slip in Jacksonville

Hawks Playbook Podcast Episode 41

EPS 41: Seattle Seahawks Let One Slip Away in Jacksonville

Seattle now plays in its most significant game of the season so far when it faces the Los Angeles Rams at home for sole possession of 1st place in the division. The importance of this game can not be understated. Winning this game gives us the tie breaker over the Rams, puts us in 1st place and in the driver’s seat in the march towards the playoffs. If we lose this game, we fall two games behind the Rams, making winning the division highly unlikely, and we would have to depend on another NFC team to lose (most likely Atlanta), to get into the playoffs…. even if we were to finish the season with 10 wins.

EPS 38: Seahawks Come Up Short

This loss to the Atlanta Falcons will hurt for a while. In a game that Seattle won on stats alone, it lost because it did not take care of the football that led directly to Atlanta points, which was the difference in this game. You can point to the Blair Walsh fake attempt and the miss at the end as the reasons we lost, but that would be missing the point…pun intended. 🙂

Totem Falls But Seattle Seahawks Add Former LOB Member Byron Maxwell

Hawks Playbook Podcast Episode 37

EPS 37: Totem Falls But Seattle Seahawks Add Former LOB Member Byron Maxwell

In a game that will be remembered more for the day Richard Sherman was injured, than the win itself. None the less, it moved the Seahawks season record to 6-3, and in the competitive playoff hunt in the NFC. Seattle currently sits as the 5th playoff team and a wild card berth.
